Dosh Nivaran & Jaap
Kaal Sarp Dosh forms in a horoscope when all seven planets fall on one side of the Rahu Ketu axis, with Rahu representing the serpent's head and Ketu its tail. Vedic astrology associates this placement with a sense of being blocked despite effort, with obstacles in career, delays in marriage, financial ups and downs, mental stress and recurring hurdles that seem to appear from nowhere. Alongside the nodes, a Navagraha Japa helps balance all nine planets in the chart.
The remedy is the Kaal Sarp Dosh Nivaran Puja. Because Lord Shiva is the master of serpents, the ritual centres on Shiva worship alongside the worship of the serpent deities. Silver or copper Naag Naagin images are honoured, Sarpa Suktam is recited, and Rahu and Ketu are appeased through dedicated Japa. A Havan seals the ritual and directs its energy toward neutralising the dosh. Because Lord Shiva presides over this remedy, it is often strengthened with a Rudrabhishek Puja.
The most effective days for this puja are Amavasya, Nag Panchami and Maha Shivratri, and the Muhurat is ideally chosen in a Nakshatra connected to Rahu or Ketu. Performed sincerely with a clear Sankalp, the puja is believed to ease the grip of the dosh and bring gradual relief across career, relationships and health. Where ancestral karma is also indicated, devotees add the Pitra Dosh Nivaran Puja.
Step 1: Chart Review and Muhurat. Your horoscope is examined to confirm the dosh, and an auspicious day such as Amavasya or Nag Panchami is chosen.
Step 2: Sankalp. The ritual begins with your name, gotra and intention.
Step 3: Ganesh Puja. Lord Ganesha is invoked to remove obstacles from the ceremony.
Step 4: Navagraha and Kalash Sthapana. The nine planets are worshipped and a sacred Kalash is established.
Step 5: Naag Naagin Puja. Serpent deities in silver or copper form are worshipped with Sarpa Suktam recitation.
Step 6: Rudrabhishek. Lord Shiva is honoured with a sacred Abhishek to invoke his blessings over the serpent energies.
Step 7: Rahu Ketu Japa. Dedicated mantra chanting for Rahu and Ketu is performed in the prescribed counts.
Step 8: Havan and Visarjan. A fire offering seals the ritual, and the Naag Naagin images are respectfully dispersed in flowing water.
